Juno’s Story

Juno, the queen of the gods in Roman mythology, was married to Jupiter, the king of the gods. Their marriage was marked by both power and conflict. Juno was fiercely protective of women and the sanctity of marriage, often finding herself at odds with Jupiter’s numerous infidelities. Despite the tumultuous nature of their relationship, Juno’s loyalty and strength were unwavering, symbolizing the challenges and complexities inherent in marital bonds.

Orphic Hymn to Hera (Juno):

“O Queen, adorned with golden thrones, divine,

O Hera, blessed spouse of Jove sublime,

Supreme, illustrious, Queen all-powerful,

O royal Hera, with majestic mind.”

Her marriage to Henry was fraught with challenges, particularly the pressure to produce a male heir. Historical Context

Catherine’s marriage to Henry VIII was crucial in solidifying the alliance between England and Spain. Her regency during Henry’s campaign in France showcased her capability and strength as a leader.
